Bill prepared this 'Hoods packet.
This was a Bill/Kelly date 'Hoods.
Polish Village 'Hoods packet
We started at La Farine bakery.
We completed our basilica triad. We'd already been to the basilicas in Garfield Park and Forest Glen, and this day we went to Chicago's third and final basilica, St. Hyacinth. Pretty. Garfield Park's is still my fave, though.
There was a lot of pooping around Milwaukee Ave, which is a main vein of the neighborhood.
We drove by a number of manufacturing buildings, or buildings formerly used for manufacturing, now being turned into condos. (Olson rug, formerly with a super sweet park, ILG, Marshall Fields, Florsheim shoes, etc.)
There was a mural on Belmont that dates back to 1975. Polish.
Kurowski's polish sausage shop was a dream. And intense. And I wasn't supposed to take pics in there, per a sign I saw on my way OUT of the store. Whoops. Sorry, Kurowski's.
Hoods down on the Polish store, which was inexplicably closed. Maybe closed DOWN.
Remember that house that we accidentally found with the yard filled with, well, outsider art?
We could not get INSIDE St. Wenceslaus church, so we wandered around the outside.
Then we hogged out at the Red Apple buffet. Endless Polish food to conclude Polish Village.
Moral of story: Polish.
