We had a Kate, Ed and Max. Odette and Dan. Bill and William. Me and Vicki.
Oh, and Ed's niece Kelly met up with us at lunch!

We met at Dollop Coffee for a quick cuppa.
Walked around the Hutchinson Street Historic District. A BUNCH of Mahers. Huge, gorgeous mansions. I remember the story of a murder in one of them? Another I remember standing creepily empty? Kate, help me out here?
We tooled around in the jungle gym at the Disney Magnet School. It had this terrifying concrete, um, courtyard? Surrounded by a low wall? That was awkwardly, and only partly, painted with the creepiest versions of Disney characters? I loved it.
We walked by the Montessori school, which I'm pretty sure is now the French school, on our way to the American Islamic College.
We admired the Paddington Apartments from its courtyard. And then as we were inspecting what we thought were former stables in the back alley (totally were), an older woman named Elizabeth and her young caretaker stopped us. Elizabeth was an original condo owner at the Paddington and wanted to tell us all about it. And might have talked to us about it all night. But as Bill, William and I listened, mesmerized, the rest of our group disappeared up ahead. So we had to bid Elizabeth adieu.
It was UNSEASONABLY warm for a Feb day. So we HAD to eat on a patio. Michael's pizzeria fed the beast.
We walked to that Egyptian looking building across from the Holiday Club.
Then Saint Mary of the Lake Church. Where we busted in on a confirmation. Cardinal Blase Cupich was presiding, and as he processed with his posse, he stopped to bless baby Max. Hoods magic!
Someday we'll get into Graceland Cemetery. But it's pretty much a 'hoods unto itself. Se we noted it and moved on.
We ended at the Bar on Buena, where Max dumped his mom's entire cider all over me. Thanks, bud.
Oh, and a quick trip next door to check out the North Buena deli and wine shop, where I think Kelly ended up working for a bit?
It's a real cute neighborhood wedged between Uptown and Lakeview. Close to the lake. Mostly residential. Lot of money.
